Everyone Loves a PICNIC
by Rose Ann Barmann, OSB
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.” This was our beautiful and comforting Gospel message on Thursday, July 18, just a couple of days prior to our 4th annual “Picnic In the Pines”. During the last week of preparations for the PICNIC, my spirit needed to feel the support and the permission of peaceful rest while in this Word of God.
As I prayed with the Words of Jesus, I felt that we at Benet Hill offered many families and friends the chance to come to the forest, to rest and find comfort and peace through our” Picnic”.
This summer has had its share of burdens for many of our Black Forest neighbors who lost their homes in the fire or those who had to evacuate. Coming together as a community for some fun, food, music and relaxation was a wonderful way to help lighten the burdens of many. A portion of our proceeds are going to assist those who lost their homes. We also used this opportunity to pay special tribute to the fire fighters and their families from the Westcott, Tri-Lakes and Falcon stations.
When it is all said and done, we are meant to take care of one another. Our Benet Hill community had the privilege of sharing one another’s burdens for a while as we enjoyed a PICNIC IN THE PINES with so many.
With Gratitude and Blessings!
